Antioch Progress Blog

05/01/2011

Chapter one was posted last night, and so far the response is positive. Chapter two is being outlined, and should go live by mid-May.

05/06/2011

Chapter two is outlined. I just need three hours to write and an hour the next day to edit to get the results I want.

05/15/2011

Chapter Two is finished, written in a three hour freak-out session just like Chapter One. This time I have unique cover art for promotional purposes. I'm thinking of doing this for each chapter and posting it with the chapter on here. Even Chapter One. Because I'm awesome.

05/16/2011

Posting original cover art for chapters one and two on this site. I've also changed the art on Antioch's Facebook page to reflect that of Chapter Two. And just FYI everyone, I did all the art myself, including the banner for this site.

06/03/2011

Posted cover art for Chapter 3, as well as Chapter 3 itself. Over and over I'm hearing about how my work is helping people. This is why I do it. I don't need anything but this.

06/04/2011

Chapter 4 is written. I'll be editing it tomorrow and posting it Monday (06/06/2011.)

06/05/2011

I've decided that, once the rough draft is posted in full on here, I will give Antioch a couple of full edits and make it available for purchase in final form, with new material even in the PDF and basic paperback editions. Special edition will contain new short stories about other characters from the city of Antioch and the college, some related to the main story and some not, as well as unused and discarded material.

Hopefully, this will all convince people to spend a little money and support my art. After all, the recession is SOOO last Tuesday, and now that the world hasn't ended, what else will you do with your free time? Might as well make it count.

06/06/2011

Chapter 4 is posted. I think this is the shortest gap between chapters so far, and I'm about to start Chapter 5's writing tomorrow. I'd like to have these ready up to a week or two in advance so that I can begin working on The Caretakers at the same time, making it possible to transition directly from one novel to the next without a gap in posts or filler material. Rest assured, I'll likely post some short stories, likely in their own site. But that's another idea, to be discussed at a later date.

Enjoy!

06/06/2011

Chapter 5 is in the works, but I also have some announcements.

First of all, I'm getting ready to start releasing the opening chapters of The Caretakers about midway through Antioch. This is going to be stressful, but believe me, it's a good kind of stress.

Secondly, after Chapter 5 is posted, there may be a 2 week gap while I finish up some loose ends with Vegas IN, 46017 and get it ready for release, as well as writing Chapter 6 of Antioch and Chapter 1 of The Caretakers, to be released within days of one another.

At the end of those two weeks, there will be a sort of explosion of newness. Chapter 6 of Antioch, Chapter 1 of The Caretakers, Vegas will be available for purchase in my online store in 4-5 different editions, and I'll be posting a couple new poems to Dead Bodies and Dynamite.

Also, during the two weeks, expect to see a new banner for the Antioch website. I like the current one, but I feel I can do better now that I'm more experienced.

I'd like to say that I've got some great friends and family supporting me on this. You know who you are. Not to worry, I see you following Antioch, and your support has been noted. Thank you all so much. This whole thing is really nothing so far in the big scheme of things, but I feel like I'm starting to live out a dream of mine, and that is to be an author.

I've got a long way to go. I'm still a new writer. But the support I've been getting has really made it worth the struggle.

I love you all! =)

Posted Chapter 5. That is all.

07/04/2011

Well, here I am, competing with Independence day.

Just posted Chapter 6, after a month of working on it. Definitely not how I usually do it.

Chapter 6 began as all the other chapters, in a freakout session that came seemingly from nowhere. But this particular freakout became entirely too strong to continue, and for my own sanity, I had to break Chapter 6 into a few different freakouts.

Chapter 6 is, for me, the most personal thing I've ever written, and I suppose that's why the freakout that spawned it nearly destroyed me.

Intense stuff.

Anyway, eat it.

EAT IT!! =D

07/05/2011

Okay, so given the fact that I've been getting more and more irritated about being censored on wetpaint, I am planning to move Antioch and The Caretakers in their entirety to another site. I don't remember this site doing this to my posts when I first started using it in 2007, but it is what it is.

There are no hard feelings toward this site, but I need freedom.

Also hoping the switch will resolve a posting issue with this site that dictates that I go back through every post I make and put the spaces back in between the paragraphs, and it adds about 5 min to the process of posting. Very time consuming and inconvenient.

All future live novels will follow suit.

I'll keep you posted.

07/06/2011

A glorious new beginning for Antioch on Blogger/Blogspot, home of some of my favorite blogs EVER! =) Yess.

07/08/2011

Taking a short break from the public aspect of this project to write Chapter 7, a bit of poetry and some other projects as well. I'll be back in about a month or so with new material.

Cheers! =D

09/12/2011

Well, as we all know, Chapters 7 and 8 have both been posted. I'm getting better at this whole not fucking up my public image with my bad attitude thing I think. I don't know. It's hard not to flip some people like tables I guess.

10/23/2011

Chapter 9 is posted.

I apologize for the downtime recently. It appears that beyond my own procrastination and indecisiveness regarding the storyline, the site had been marked as spam enough times that it was taken down until I verified my email.

Fantastic.

Oh, well. Life goes on, right?

I'm working on the concept for the next live novel, which will likely be horror. Likely some form of the original The Caretakers/Lucid Dark concept.

I thank everyone for their readership, and I promise to keep this thing up a bit more in the future.

Cheers.

10/23/2011

In the next few weeks, I will be posting a slightly revised version of Chapter Two, making it the second chapter to be taken into the second draft, Chapter One having been the first.

I will keep everyone posted.

Cheerios.

11/03/2011

I'm working on Chapter Ten.

It shall be awesome.

Yay.

Cheerios and milk, bitches.

12/05/11

I posted Chapter 10 a few days ago and response is good. I've got new fans and all that, so I'm looking forward to posting the next 4 chapters. It's hard to believe it's almost over. 4 more months and Antioch goes into editing, and shortly after that, it will be offered as a free download or a paid hard copy. Thanks to everyone for the support! =)

01/08/12

Hello again, and thanks for being patient with me these last few months.

Chapter 11 is up, as you may know. Chapter 12 will be posted with about 2 weeks.

I'm also in school now, which is a lot of fun. What that means is that these last few chapters may not be posted in as timely a manner as I'd like.

Stay tuned.

01/25/12

News: not only is Chapter 12 almost finished (I know it's been longer than 2 weeks, but it's not the way I want it yet), but I've decided to start a site dedicated to my comings and goings as a writer. Chapters posted, projects in the works, readings, etc. I will let everyone know when it's ready. It's not so much that I'm so egotistical that I have to have a shrine to my work, but it will help me organize my projects and keep me working on them.

More to come.

03/26/12

Well, as most of you have figured out, I am about as good at keeping this little blog up as I am my school work. Luckily, the planets have finally aligned, and Chapter 13 is about to be posted.

You may also have noticed that Chapter 12 has been up for a while.

More about this at a later date.

04/24/2012

Chapter 13 has been up for almost a week, now. So far, the views for this chapter alone have reached what Chapter 12 has gotten to so far after months of being posted. This is pretty exciting stuff.

Also, it has come to my attention that Antioch is about to reach 1000 page views.

That's not counting when we moved from Wetpaint.

Exciting, exciting, exciting.

Also, I began posting to Anthology Volume One, my first short story collection and the next live project.

The final chapter of Antioch will be dropping next month. Stay tuned, and thank you for your support.

05/25/2012

Chapter 14 is about to be posted.

I've never finished writing a whole novel before. I feel empowered. Also, Antioch has hit 1000 views. While that seems like a small number compared to most books, it speaks volumes to me.

It says that people want to read what I write.

Now begins the editing process, with my editor, the lovely and talented Bri.

Thank you for reading.

05/26/2012

Antioch is completely written. Now begins the process of revision, followed by editing, followed by the finished product.

What an experience this has all been.

I am excited.

12/31/12

Antioch is in post-production, and will be taken down sometime mid-2013 for final formatting before it goes into print and eBook format.

New live novel, 3 years before Antioch. More of Warren and Aaron. Check it out. Thanks to everyone for the support.
